HANDWRITING & GRAPHOLOGY

Free graphology course: six handwriting analysis lessons

Follow six lessons from sample preparation to a complete handwriting observation. Each lesson includes an exercise and a self-check answer.

1. Gather a sample

Choose an ordinary paragraph and its full-page photograph. Record the pen, date and task. Keep an additional crop of the signature.

Your exercise

Complete the observation in your own sample and save a short note with the marked feature. Use the worksheet to keep the samples and comparisons together.

Check your understanding

Why keep the full page? It preserves paper edges and margins; a crop can remove that context.

2. Read the page

Trace the writing block and compare line starts, line endings and spaces between lines. Mark the body-letter bottoms before following the baseline.

Your exercise

Complete the observation in your own sample and save a short note with the marked feature. Use the worksheet to keep the samples and comparisons together.

Check your understanding

Why avoid the bottoms of g and y? Their descenders extend below the ordinary body baseline.

3. Separate the measurements

Compare slant, body height and word gaps in three words. Open the analyzer and toggle the corresponding layers.

Your exercise

Complete the observation in your own sample and save a short note with the marked feature. Use the worksheet to keep the samples and comparisons together.

Check your understanding

Can a rising baseline have upright letters? Yes. Line direction and stem direction describe different geometry.

4. Compare repeated letter forms

Choose one oval, one upper stem and one lower tail. Compare three occurrences of each using the A–Z guide.

Your exercise

Complete the observation in your own sample and save a short note with the marked feature. Use the worksheet to keep the samples and comparisons together.

Check your understanding

Why compare several occurrences? Neighboring ink and a single unusual form can change a local outline.

5. Compare a signature with a note

Measure opening height against body height. Record any underline, loop and final sweep. Compare shared forms with the paragraph.

Your exercise

Complete the observation in your own sample and save a short note with the marked feature. Use the worksheet to keep the samples and comparisons together.

Check your understanding

Does one enlarged signature capital make the ordinary note large? No. Compare the ordinary lowercase bodies separately.

6. Write a complete observation

Use the worksheet to record each visible feature and its traditional theme. Include exceptions and the scale of the image.

Your exercise

Complete the observation in your own sample and save a short note with the marked feature. Use the worksheet to keep the samples and comparisons together.

Check your understanding

What makes a reading traceable? Each interpretation points to a visible feature and a location in the sample.
