HANDWRITING & GRAPHOLOGY
Graphology books: foundational and historical reading
Explore introductory graphology books and historical investigations. Use the reading list to compare descriptive vocabulary, traditional interpretations and the questions each author examines.
Introductory reading
| Book | Authors | What to compare while reading |
|---|---|---|
| Handwriting Analysis: The Complete Basic Book | Karen Kristin Amend and Mary S. Ruiz | Feature vocabulary and how individual signs enter a reading. |
| The Definitive Book of Handwriting Analysis (2008) | Marc Seifer | The organization of a sample reading across size, shape, slant and movement. |
Keep a sample beside the book. For each proposed meaning, first locate the visible feature and compare its repeated forms. Use the chart to record which descriptions overlap and which terms differ.
Historical primary works
| Work | Author / year | Reading question |
|---|---|---|
| Système de graphologie | Jean-Hippolyte Michon, 1875 | How were signs organized into a system? |
| Les révélations de l’écriture d’après un contrôle scientifique | Alfred Binet, 1906 | How were handwriting interpretation claims investigated? |
A practical reading notebook
- Record the author’s exact feature name.
- Draw or mark the visible shape in your sample.
- Write the proposed interpretation in a separate column.
- Compare a second author’s description of the same feature.
- Find a matching letter guide and compare its illustrated forms.
Learn alongside the reading
The course provides sample exercises, the glossary clarifies measurement terms, and the letter reference isolates specific shapes. Use those pages to turn a general reading into observations you can show on the paper.
